Prize-giving ceremony

In 2015, the prize will be awarded on 17 March 2015 at the Third United Nations World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction, which will take place in Sendai, Japan.

In Sendai, Governments are expected to adopt a future framework for disaster risk reduction to guide the actions of nations and communities for the next 20 to 30 years. Against this backdrop, the Sasakawa Award ceremony will be a chance to celebrate examples of how to live a safer future... and help shape our attitudes and actions towards society and the planet.
